About the role

The Special Education Teacher will maximize the learning experience for students with special needs across academics, interpersonal skills, and daily living activities by implementing approved curriculum and documenting student progress. This role involves employing specialized instruction, assisting staff with IEPs and behavior plans, and serving as a liaison between home and school.

  • ROLE: Employs multisensory teaching strategies and specialized instruction as needed based on student's specific disabilities Assists students and teaching staff in implementing students' IEPs and behavior management plans. Serves as a ready resource to students and parents to provide counseling that will lead each student to increased personal growth, self-understanding, and behavioral management; serves as liaison between home and school. Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops, or professional meetings Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents. Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required. Performs other duties as assigned

Salary Range

BA $66,901 - $94,701 / MA $68,151 - $95,951 Term of Employment: 10.5 Months Union: MPTEA
