  • Responsibilities: None Position Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate General Education Teacher to provide educational services within a residential behavioral health setting serving adolescents ages 11–17. This role supports students currently receiving treatment for behavioral health concerns including, but not limited to, self-harm, aggression, suicidal ideation, substance use, trauma, mood instability, depression, and anxiety. The Teacher will assist students in completing grade-level academic requirements while coordinating educational case management and planning for successful school reintegration following discharge. The ideal candidate thrives in a structured therapeutic environment, enjoys working with students who require additional care and support, and understands the intersection of education and behavioral health. Key Responsibilities Provide individualized and small-group instruction tailored to each student’s academic level and treatment plan. Develop and implement lesson plans that accommodate emotional, behavioral, and cognitive needs. Collaborate closely with therapists, case managers, and the multidisciplinary treatment team to align educational strategies with therapeutic goals. Assist students with academic assignments, projects, testing preparation, and completion of grade-level requirements. Monitor, document, and communicate academic progress and concerns to appropriate stakeholders. Implement trauma-informed teaching strategies to create a safe, structured, and supportive classroom environment. Adapt instructional materials to support students with IEPs and 504 Plans. Provide educational case management and coordinate post-discharge school reintegration planning. Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to review student progress and contribute to holistic care planning. Maintain compliance with all educational standards, documentation requirements, and safety protocols within the residential setting.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field.

Experience

  • 0–1 years of teaching or tutoring experience required. Experience working with behavioral health populations preferred. Experience delivering psychoeducational groups or lectures preferred. Experience managing a student or client caseload preferred.
  • Licensure (Preferred): Georgia licensure in counseling or related field (LMHC, LMFT, LCSW, LAPC, LPC) preferred but not required.

  • Requirements: Must pass a Level 2 background check (national criminal history and fingerprinting). No felony or substance abuse convictions within the past five (5) years. If in recovery, must demonstrate a minimum of two (2) years continuous sobriety prior to hire.
