Job summary
The Teacher Assistant works under the supervision of the assigned teacher and assists the teacher in implementing daily Early Childhood Development learning experiences and activities.
Duties: And responsibilities:

- Assist in the implementation of daily lesson plans.
- 2.
- Knowledge of the curriculum and assessments.
- 3.
- Assist in setting up and organizing the classroom, labeling interest area and shelves with pictures and words.
- 4.
- Provide and assist in maintaining and developing a safe and healthy learning environment for all children, including children with disabilities.
- 5.
- Assist in maintaining complete and concise records for each child.
- 6.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times.
- 7.
- Assist in implementing IEPs for children with disabilities.
- 8.
- Complete daily attendance records, comply with other administrative requirements.
- 9.
- Assist in the inventory of classroom materials and supplies, and store as directed.
- 10.
- Make visits to the homes of parents or guardians of children assigned to classroom.
- 11.
- Promote a comprehensive pre-school early childhood program for Head Start children, families and extended families, which include Family Service, Parent Involvement, Health, Nutrition, Education, Transition, and Disabilities and Mental Health.

- Encourage parent participation in the classroom in special activities, in active learning and socialization.
- 13.
- Assist with lunchroom duties such as breakfast, lunch and snacks, as assigned and required.
- 14.
- Assist with bus duties as assigned and required.
- 15.
- Assist with recruitment and enrollment.
- 16.
- Arrange and assist with field trips.
- 17.
- Assist children with family style serving.
- 18.
- Assist with classroom clean-up, including bathroom.
- 19.
- Perform other duties as directed.
Qualifications
1. CDA
2. Six months’ experience in an early childhood setting
3. Must be cooperative and display a positive attitude toward working as a team with other staff members.
4. Must have empathy for children and low-income families.
5. Must understand and respect confidential information regarding the children, families and the program.
6. Must exercise discretion and sound judgment in the performance of assigned duties.
7. Must be physically fit for children’s activities indoors and outdoors.
OTHER
1. Must have a current driver’s license and have access to use of automobile with current insurance.
2. Must exhibit willingness to attend all pertinent meetings and trainings and do home visits as necessary.
3. Must possess a valid first aid and CPR certificate.
4. Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
