Job description

  • Congressional School seeks an Early Childhood educator to lead one of our infant classrooms.
  • The Lead Teacher will partner with the Assistants to plan and implement the daily program.
  • The Lead Teacher will actively supervise the classroom and playgrounds at all times and observe, interact, and engage with children.
  • The Lead Teacher must receive 16 hours of Early Childhood Education training every 12 months and must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with children, parents and co-workers.
  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Oversee and teach a class of children in a manner consistent with the philosophy and the goals of the School Plan activities that encourage each child's growth in the areas of emotional, social, cognitive, and physical development Recognize and consider the individual needs of each child in relation to cultural and socio-economic background, disabilities, special talents and interests, style and pace of learning Help children learn to think creatively, solve problems independently and respect themselves and others Arrange the decorations and learning environment in the classroom Lead parent conferences Ensure active supervision of the classroom and playgrounds Maintain strict confidentiality regarding children and their families Maintain cleanliness and safety within the classroom Attend and facilitate Early Childhood and licensing meetings and attend outside workshops as necessary Regularly lift and carry children weighing up to 25 pounds Regularly bend, stoop and crouch in order to physically interact with children and ensure their safety Perform other duties as assigned
