Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; some college coursework preferred.
• Experience working with children or youth in educational or community settings.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students, families, and team members.
• Ability to commit to the full duration of the program schedule, including any required training sessions.
• Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and youth empowerment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, or a related field.
• Previous experience in literacy instruction or youth mentorship programs.
• Cultural competency and experience working with diverse populations.
• First aid and CPR certification.
• Experience in conflict resolution and classroom management.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate daily educational and enrichment activities aligned with the Freedom School curriculum to support literacy and personal growth.
• Mentor and build meaningful relationships with students, providing guidance, encouragement, and support.
• Collaborate with fellow staff and community partners to create a cohesive and inclusive learning environment.
• Monitor and assess student progress, adapting approaches to meet diverse learning needs and styles.
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance instructional skills and cultural competency.
