Job description
Sylvan Learning is the industry leader in supplemental education for students in pre-kindergarten through 12th grade. We are looking for an Elementary Studies Tutor who loves working with young learners and is dedicated to helping every child succeed at our Lewis Center location.
As a Sylvan Instructor, you will be trained on our proven curriculum and given the tools to provide personalized instruction in reading, writing, math, and study skills in a small group setting. Evening and weekend hours are available. If you aspire to inspire, we want you on our team!
- What You'll Do
- Deliver personalized instruction using Sylvan programs across core elementary subjects
- Supervise, engage, and motivate students during each session
- Reward students for effort and completed work
- Track and document individual student progress
- Communicate student needs to the center director
- Foster a warm, encouraging learning environment where students feel confident
Requirements
- Four-year degree or equivalent required
- Teaching credential (current or expired) strongly preferred
- 1–2 years of teaching or tutoring experience preferred
- Knowledge of phonics and reading comprehension a plus
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to multitask and adapt to individual student needs
