Job description

The Phoenix Health Sciences Campus houses an interprofessional simulation center that supports education across multiple health science disciplines. The center utilizes high-fidelity human patient simulators, task trainers, medical-grade equipment, and other advanced technologies to facilitate psychomotor skills training and simulated learning experiences. This position is responsible for preparing and maintaining healthcare simulation settings including the setup and maintenance of high-fidelity human patient simulators, task trainers, medical equipment, and audio/video systems that facilitate psychomotor skills training and simulated learning experiences.

Essential Functions

  • Simulation Program Support
  • Performs general maintenance and ensures functionality of all simulation and software in accordance with departmental standards.
  • Updates simulation equipment and computer hardware as directed.
  • Maintains inventory of equipment and supplies.
  • Assembles pre-simulation learning materials.
  • Simulation Center Support
  • Set up and prepare a variety of healthcare simulation events including human patient simulators, task trainers, clinical supplies, and other various medical equipment and technology.
  • Ensure availability of lab equipment and disposables as directed by simulation center guidelines.
  • Provides general support and troubleshooting for simulation technologies.
  • Performs physical transport of a variety of healthcare educational equipment to simulation and lab spaces throughout the center.
  • Maintains logs for cleaning, maintenance, and routine inspections.
  • Duties as assigned.
  • Assists in the creation and updating of setup checklists and documentation.
  • Assists in creating tutorial materials for faculty and staff related to the troubleshooting and operation of simulation technology.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in related field and/or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience within one or more of the following preferred: o Experience supporting health science simulation activities o Experience on supporting and maintaining technology o Experience with higher education assessment technologies

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficiency in MS software applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Internet, and database use.
  • Skills in developing and maintaining inventory and maintenance records.
  • Ability to communicate information clearly and professionally to others with various backgrounds and level of technical knowledge.
  • Ability to learn new skills and technology quickly and independently.
  • Ability to prioritize competing tasks in an everchanging environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and require minimal oversight.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, set priorities and make critical decisions.

Licenses/Certifications: Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) preferred
