The Teaching Assistant will

Support

Instruction: Assist instructors with company-created curriculum and materials, helping advanced students grasp complex concepts.

Student

Support: Work one-on-one with students during class activities and provide additional help when needed.

Classroom

Management: Help maintain an organized learning environment and assist in managing up to 16 students.

Assignment

Support: Assist with grading and providing constructive feedback on student work.

Build

Relationships: Connect with students and staff members to encourage their learning journey and academic growth.

Foster

Learning: Help create an environment that promotes critical thinking and academic curiosity.

The Ideal Candidate has

  • Must be 16 years old or older
  • Possess strong Language Arts skills with the ability to help students navigate advanced concepts
  • Experience with/interest in working with younger students strongly preferred
  • Exceptional written and spoken communication
  • Positive and encouraging attitude that helps students feel comfortable asking questions
  • Detail-oriented and organized
  • Familiarity with the AoPS curriculum is not required, but a plus

Not Required

• Prior teaching experience or education coursework is not required for this position.

Location and Schedule

  • As this is an in-person position at our Millburn campus location, candidates must be located in Millburn/Short Hills, NJ or the greater area and must be able to commute to our campus.
  • During the summer, we offer multiple two-week camps between July-August. Camp classes are held Monday-Friday for 3 hours a day, with both morning and afternoon classes.
  • We are currently hiring for the following summer camps:
  • Writing
  • Camp 2-3: Mission Pen Possible [https://aopsacademy.org/courses/course/la-spy],
  • July 6th -
  • July 17th, 9:00am-12:00pm and
  • July 27th -
  • August 7th, 1:00pm-4:00pm.

  • Camp 5-6: Language Arts Triathlon [https://aopsacademy.org/courses/course/la-triathlon],
  • July 27th -
  • August 7th, 1:00pm-4:00pm.

Requirements

Candidates must be at least 16 years old with strong Language Arts skills and exceptional communication abilities. Experience or interest in working with younger students is strongly preferred, though prior teaching experience is not required.
