• HourlyDuties/Responsibilities: Soccer instructors provide a structured class teaching students in soccer skills and various other sports related to the sports department. Soccer instructors teach children ranging in age from 3 to 16 years old the basics of playing the sport. This includes dribbling, shooting goals, defending, and footwork. Soccer instructors coordinate the registration of participants. This position is not primarily a coaching position. However, basketball staff may be periodically asked to be a substitute coach when a volunteer coach is absent. All sports instructors assist in the success of all sports program duties such as fundraising, special events, and marketing. All sports instructors ensure the safety of all program participants.

• QualificationsQualifications: Soccer instructors must be at least 16 years of age and have a valid work permit if they are under the age of 18. Qualified applicants have experience working with children (paid or volunteer), but it is not required. All potential employees must submit to and comply with all requirements for employment including, but not limited to, a criminal background check, drug and alcohol testing, health screening, and tuberculosis test. Employees must be CPR/first aid certified within the first 30 days of employment and kept current for condition of continued employment. The Anaheim Family YMCA periodically provides CPR/first aid training to staff who need certification.
