Job description

Ultimate Medical Academy is a non-profit healthcare educational institution with a national presence. Headquartered in Tampa, Florida and founded in 1994, UMA offers content-rich, interactive online programs as well as hands-on training at our Clearwater, Florida campus.

As an Adjunct team member, you will have access to the following benefit

• 401k (eligible upon completion of 90 days of employment and must be at least 18 years of age)

Purpose of the Position

  • As an Instructor, Dental Assistant you will empower students by delivering engaging and effective instruction. You collaborate closely with program leaders and other departments to enhance student success, foster retention, support certification, celebrate graduation milestones, and facilitate successful career placements. Our commitment lies in promoting the overall well-being and integrity of our educational programs and our students.
  • Anticipated starting rate of $720.00/week

What you’ll do

1. Deliver Centralized Curriculum

  • Teach the standardized distance education curriculum according to an assigned schedule. 2.
  • Engage
  • Students: Facilitate discussion forums and interactive course posts to promote student interaction and engagement. Host weekly office hours. 3.
  • Monitor

  • Progress: Grade course activities and post grades on a weekly basis. Proactively track student performance and provide timely academic feedback. 4.

  • Success: Create learning support tools tailored to students’ demonstrated needs. Provide academic feedback in a constructive, positive, and timely manner. 5.
  • Maintain
  • Professionalism: Adhere to policies, maintain an up-to-date faculty file, and communicate effectively with program leadership and students per established expectations and timelines. 6. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

Dental Assistant with Expanded Functions Instructors

  • Five (5) years of occupational experience as a Dental Assistant or three (3) years’ experience as a Dentist.
  • Registered dental assistant certification, certified dental assistant certification or equivalent required (all certifications for slash licensures must remain active and be maintained as required by state and or accrediting commissions)
  • Current knowledge and experience in dental assisting. Proficiency in didactic and clinical four-handed and/or six-handed dentistry.

Preferred Requirements

  • Master’s degree in higher in education, healthcare management, communication, nursing, or general studies.
  • Experience applying adult learning principles and practices to blended learning.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other business tools such as Microsoft Teams.
  • Other skills and abilities - ability to inspire students to meet career goals by tying course curriculum to potential career outcomes, Learning Management Systems, Student Information Systems, synchronous instructional tools.

Compliance

  • Demonstrate knowledge of, and carefully follows all applicable federal and state compliance requirements and regulations including those prescribed by the U.S. Department of Education, accrediting agencies, state regulations and, and internal policies and procedures.
  • Effectively communicate compliance requirements to other staff as appropriate and quickly escalate any compliance concerns to the Compliance department.

Work Environment/Physical Demands

  • This position is either a full-time or adjunct onsite position at UMA’s ground campus in Clearwater, Florida.
  • May include a flexible remote schedule for online/virtual instructional opportunity.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
