Practice course applicants require an MSW and at least two years of post-MSW experience, while research course applicants need a PhD in Social Welfare or a related field. University teaching experience is preferred.

One or more temporary, part-time lecturers for a pool from which instructors will be considered for appointments as they become available for Fall Semester 2026, and/or Spring Semester 2027.
OF THE POSITION: Lecturers may be needed to teach in various social work curriculum sequences, including generalist and advanced practice, policy, research, field practicum, human behavior & the social environment, or race, gender, and inequality. Please note that teaching assignments at California State University, East Bay may include courses at the Hayward campus, Concord Center, and/or online. The policy and expectation of the California State University is that all faculty members will perform all of their duties within the state of California.
Lecturer AY (Range 2) - $5,507 - $6,677
Lecturer AY (Range 3) - $6,221 - $13,224
Lecturer AY (Range 4) - $6,825 - $14,523
Lecturer AY (Range 5) - $8,593 - $15,211
The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience.
Fall Semester begins August 17, 2026; Spring Semester begins January 19, 2027.
Applicants for practice courses must have an MSW and a minimum of two years of post-MSW practice experience. Applicants for research courses should have a PhD in Social Welfare or a related field; ADB will be considered. University teaching experience preferred.
