Job description

Summary The Assistant High School Boys/Girls Golf Coach supports the head coach in all aspects of the golf program, helping to develop student-athletes both on and off the course. Our athletic program provides a challenging educational experience in an inclusive Christian community with an unwavering commitment to developing leaders of integrity and purpose. This position emphasizes skill development, sportsmanship, teamwork, and character consistent with the mission of the school. Essential Functions The tasks, duties, and responsibilities of this job include, but are not limited to: Primary Responsibilities Assist the head coach with planning and conducting practices for boys and girls golf teams Provide instruction in fundamentals including grip, stance, swing mechanics, short game, course management, and rules of golf Help organize tryouts, team selection, and lineup decisions Supervise student-athletes during practices, matches, and team events Assist with match preparation, including scorecards, pairings, and course logistics Support individual player development through instruction, encouragement, and goal setting Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and Christ-centered character development Encourage leadership, integrity, and personal responsibility among student-athletes Monitor athlete academic progress and support classroom success Help coordinate transportation, scheduling, and match logistics as needed Assist with equipment inventory, care, and organization Time Commitment Daily practices during the golf season (after school) Matches (typically weekday during the day or evenings) Occasional weekend tournaments Preseason planning and postseason wrap-up meetings

Qualifications

Education/Experience Knowledge of golf fundamentals, rules, and course etiquette Previous coaching or playing experience preferred (high school, collegiate, or competitive level) Ability to effectively teach and communicate with student-athletes of varying skill levels Strong organizational and leadership skills Commitment to mentoring students within a Christian educational environment Positive role model who demonstrates integrity, sportsmanship, and professionalism Ability to work after school hours, evenings, and occasional weekends CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) Must meet all school employment and background check requirements Preferred Characteristics Passion for developing young athletes and leaders Ability to build relationships with both boys and girls' teams Patience and strong teaching mindset Commitment to program growth and player development Strong communication with players, parents, and staff Supportive of the school's Christian mission and values Physical Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
