About the role

The Swim Instructor teaches swimming techniques and water safety to individuals and groups of all ages. They are responsible for planning lessons, ensuring participant safety, and communicating progress to parents.

PAY RATE

$18.35/hour

Position Summary

The Swim Instructor is responsible for teaching swimming techniques and water safety to individuals or groups of all ages and skill levels in a safe, fun, and engaging environment. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Plan and conduct swim lessons for students of varying ages and abilities.

Ensure the safety of all participants by enforcing pool rules and supervising swim areas during lessons.

Provide clear instructions, demonstrations, and feedback to help students improve their swimming skills.

Maintain accurate records of student progress and attendance.

Communicate effectively with parents/guardians about student progress and upcoming classes.

Prepare lesson plans that align with established curriculum and adapt as needed for individual learning needs.

Set up and clean up equipment before and after each class.

Respond appropriately to emergencies in accordance with training and facility procedures.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience teaching swimming lessons or working with children in a recreational or educational setting preferred.
  • Strong swimming skills and knowledge of swim strokes and water safety.
  • Current certifications in CPR, First Aid
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, enthusiasm, and a genuine interest in helping others learn to swim.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, stand or reach for extended periods of times, move around the work environment independently, push, pull or lift up to 25 pounds for short periods of time. Employee is exposed to noise and fluctuating temperatures.

Requirements

Candidates should have strong swimming skills and current certifications in CPR and First Aid. Prior experience teaching swimming or working with children is preferred.
