- Description Physical Education Teacher Responsibilities Instruction & Curriculum Develop and implement engaging physical education lessons aligned with state standards and school expectations.
- Teach students the fundamentals of physical fitness, sportsmanship, health, teamwork, and lifelong wellness.
- Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student learning needs and physical abilities.
- Incorporate fitness assessments and track student progress.
- Promote safe participation in all physical activities.
- Foster an inclusive and positive classroom environment that encourages participation and growth.
- Classroom Management Establish clear behavioral expectations and maintain a structured learning environment.
- Ensure proper use and care of gym equipment and facilities.
- Monitor student safety during all physical activities and instruction.
- Student Support Encourage student confidence, leadership, collaboration, and healthy habits.
- Communicate regularly with students and families regarding progress and expectations.
- Support school-wide initiatives related to wellness, attendance, and student engagement.
- Professional Responsibilities Maintain accurate records, attendance, and assessment data.
- Participate in professional development opportunities.
- Collaborate with teachers, staff, and administrators to support school culture and student achievement.
- Attend required meetings, school functions, and events.
- Athletic Director Responsibilities Athletic Program Leadership Develop, coordinate, and oversee all school athletic programs and extracurricular sports activities.
- Establish a vision for athletics that aligns with the school’s mission and values.
- Promote academic achievement, character development, and sportsmanship among student-athletes.
- Ensure compliance with league, district, and state athletic regulations.
- Coach Supervision & Development Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate coaches.
- Provide ongoing support, mentorship, and professional development opportunities for coaching staff.
- Communicate expectations regarding student conduct, safety, and program standards.
- Event & Operations Management Coordinate athletic schedules, transportation, facilities usage, and event logistics.
- Organize home athletic events, including staffing, officials, security, and supervision.
- Manage athletic equipment inventory, maintenance, and purchasing.
- Oversee budget planning and athletic program expenditures.
- Student-Athlete Support Monitor student-athlete academic eligibility and attendance.
- Promote equitable participation opportunities for all students.
- Support recruitment opportunities, college readiness, and leadership development for student-athletes.
- Family & Community Engagement Build positive relationships with families, community partners, and athletic organizations.
- Promote athletic programs through school communication channels and community outreach.
- Coordinate athletic awards, recognition programs, and special events.
Requirements
Two years of teaching experience with a record of high student achievement (preferred but not absolutely necessary) Bachelor’s degree Experience working with youth Teaching Credential in the corresponding field or willingness to seek credentialing if not already credentialed
