TRAINING COORDINATOR (FULL TIME) DEPARTMENT Human Resources CLASSIFICATION Non-Exempt REPORTS TO Learning and Development Manager DIRECT REPORTS N/A STARTING PAY $20.00/hour
Position description
The Training Coordinator supports the Zoo & Aquarium’s learning program by conducting orientation sessions for employees and volunteers, and assisting with other professional development opportunities. This position requires strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and evening hours, in all weather extremes. The Training Coordinator will also assist the Human Resources Department by performing various tasks and serving as a backup to other department employees, ensuring vital responsibilities may be performed in case of absence. POSITION DUTIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Duties
- Percentage Leads orientation training processes, including:
- Conducting employee and volunteer orientation sessions, under the guidance of the Learning & Development Manager.
- Coordinating orientation logistics, including technology, transportation, supplies, etc.
- Organizing and maintaining orientation materials.
- Providing ongoing support for new employees during their initial days of employment.
- Incorporating strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles and classroom needs.
- 60% Assists the Learning & Development Manager with employee and volunteer development opportunities, including:
- Maintaining all learning management system records and accounts with accuracy and consistency.
- Partnering with departments to evaluate training needs.
- Organizing and/or conducting department/industry specific training as appropriate.
- Delivering safety and compliance related training, such as monthly safety chats, as well as maintaining training records and coordinating recertifications as needed.
- Delivering CPR/AED/First Aid training and coordinating all aspects of training for other instructors.
- Supporting the execution of other learning and development programs as needed.
30% Performs administrative tasks and serves as backup for various HR roles, as needed. 10%

Minimum Qualifications
1. EDUCATION & FORMAL TRAINING: 1. High school diploma or equivalent preferred. 2. EXPERIENCE & SKILLS: 1. Strong interpersonal and public speaking skills. 2. Strong verbal and written communication skills. 3. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office. 4. Can represent the company in a professional and positive manner. 5. Previous administrative/office experience desired. 6. Multilingual skills welcomed. 3. OTHER MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 1. Must have valid driver’s license. 2. Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays and evening hours, in all weather extremes. 3. Must be willing to obtain CPR/AED/First Aid Instructor Certification. 4. Must pass a background and drug screening.
