  • POSITION OVERVIEW The Pre-Kindergarten Lead Teacher is responsible for providing an educational atmosphere where children have the opportunity to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, and physical growth.
  • This person is responsible for organizing and implementing an instructional program that will result in children’s participation in learning activities and imaginative play in accordance with Legacy Traditional School policies and State Standards.
  • ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Plan, develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum that provides instruction in basic skills such as color, shape, number, and letter recognition as well as social skills.
  • Establish clear objectives for all lessons, prepares, organizes, and leads instruction in all activities.
  • Assist students, individually or in small groups, with assignments such as reading stories, providing writing assistance, reinforcing language skills, numbers, alphabet, computer learning programs, and more.
  • Adapt classroom activities, assignments, and/or materials (e.g. art projects, computer, language skills, etc.) for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing classroom goals and objectives.
  • Assist students during lunchtime, toileting, and washing activities.
  • Enforce cleanup activities by modeling appropriate behavior.
  • Prepare instructional materials (e.g. laminating, making posters, making copies, bulletin boards, filing, newsletters, etc.).
  • Provide an environment of comfort and security for young students by indulging in nurturing behavior.
  • Reports observations and incidents relating to specific students (e.g. accidents, fights, appropriate and/or inappropriate social behavior, violations of rules, safety conditions, change in behavior, etc.) for the purpose of communicating information to appropriate instructional and/or administrative personnel.
  • Maintain effective and efficient record keeping procedures.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents, and other professionals on a regular basis.
  • Collaborate with peers to enhance the instructional environment.
  • Model professional and ethical standards when dealing with students, parents, peers, and community.
  • Ensure that student growth and achievement is continuous and appropriate for age group, subject area, and/or program classification.
  • Participate in training and staff meetings.
  • Meets professional obligations through efficient work habits such as: meeting deadlines, honoring schedules and coordinating meetings as needed.
  • Evaluate each student’s learning capabilities and celebrate student accomplishments.
  • Encourage students to uphold our values and model mature behavior and good character in the classroom, on the school campus, and throughout their lives.
  • Being active in the role when light lifting, sitting, standing, moving throughout the campus and traveling to other campuses as required.
  • Participating in events outside of normal hours.

  • REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS THAT SET YOU UP FOR SUCCESS Bachelor’s degree.
  • Early Childhood Teaching Certification for Texas only.
  • The incumbent in this position will be required to pass a criminal history background check.
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS THAT SET YOU UP FOR SUCCESS Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, early childhood special education, or education.
  • Familiar with The Children’s Learning Institute (CLI Engage).
  • OTHER REQUIREMENTS This position requires the need to lift objects (up to 25 pounds) on occasion.
  • This position may require sitting for long periods at times, talking on the phone, standing, kneeling, stooping and long periods of concentration.
