Started BY YOUTH FOR YOUTH. We partner with youth to realize their full potential, by creating opportunities, removing barriers and promoting social justice.

Overview

The Arnett House is a transitional living program for homeless youth that identify as LGBTQ+ or trafficked youth. The Life Skills Specialist will engage and establish mutually respectful, trusting relationships with the youth we serve. The Specialist is responsible for the coordination of life skills programming and education and employment curriculum. Staff will conduct on-going assessments of youth's skill level and create individual/group training opportunities. This position will also assist the New Beginning Program Manager in creating and implementing a service learning model for the residents in order to build healthy, permanent connections in our community.

Responsibilities

Crisis intervention and response Direct supervision and support to residents Conduct on-going assessments of participants' life skills, employment and education needs Implementation of life skills training and employment and education curriculum Incorporate CYS philosophy and effective teaching approaches Manage environment to provide a safe and supportive residential program Transporting program participants, as required Maintain clear professional boundaries Promote strength-based, trauma informed service delivery (youth leadership, asset development) Required Qualifications: Associate's Degree in Human Services or related field AND 1 year related experience OR equivalent / Bachelor's Degree preferred A valid drivers license Skills: Strong problem solving and decision-making skills knowledgeable of managing group dynamics and can demonstrate various intervention techniques Knowledge of the homeless/runaway youth service system Knowledge of community resources Strong literacy and communication skills Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Pay Rate: $19- $20 per hour *All Offers may be contingent on a Background check and Driving record & Automobile insurance that meets agency insurance carrier requirements.
