Position requirements

Shall be at least 18 years of age and shall meet the general qualifications, health, orientation training, and staff development requirements for applicable position. Personal Care Aides are encouraged to apply. A high school diploma, G.E.D. or verification of a home school program approved by the state is required. Candidates should have three months of programmatic experience in the group care of children and at least one of the following educational backgrounds: one-year early childhood certificate from an accredited college or university that consists of at least 30 hours; a child development credential by an organization approved by the Department of Social Services; teaching diploma from an internationally or nationally recognized Montessori organization; OR six months of supervised programmatic experience in the group care of children.

SUMMARY

Child day care is responsible for the care and well-being of pre-school age children and school age children aged 6 weeks to 12 years old. Staff instruct children in activities designed to promote social, physical, and intellectual growth.

Duties: And responsibilities:

  • 1.
  • Responsible for helping the child care supervisor in observing children and in implementing the activities and services for children.
  • 2.
  • Encourage, supervise and help organize recreational and learning activities for the benefit of each child.
  • Assist with set-up and clean-up of each activity in the center.
  • 3.
  • Show sensitivity to the children’s needs, being aware of individual abilities.
  • 4.
  • Monitor children for safety and wellness and render emergency assistance to any child in need.
  • 5.
  • Confidentiality will be observed at all times.
  • 6.
  • Will report any suspicion of abuse to the supervisor in charge immediately.
  • 7.
  • Demonstrate infection control techniques.
  • 8.
  • Adhere to applicable agency policies and procedures and attend all required training.
  • 9.
  • Perform other agency tasks as requested.
