The Liberty Partnerships Program is a grant funded program sponsored by the New York State Education Department and St John's University. It is designed to provide support services to high school students who are identified as having the potential to pursue a college education but need assistance to complete secondary school. The program provides a broad range of services designed to increase academic skill development and the motivation to succeed and to foster the personal development of the students in the program. These year-round services include tutoring, counseling, mentoring, developmental courses, and social and enrichment activities.
Duties
We are seeking a Program Assistant to assist with the planning and implementation of program activities enter and manage our student database and to provide clerical support at our St. John’s campus office. Office support includes tracking student enrollment and attendance; assisting with the management of student files; chaperoning summer trips; and supervising outdoor activities as needed.
Under the direct supervision of the Project Director, the Program Assistant will
- Aid with all aspects of LPP administration and program planning
- Serve as Student Advisor and develop a personal learning plan for assigned students.
- Assist with the development and implementation of program activities including workshops, recreational activities, trips, and academic advisement.
- Manage a caseload of students, which includes working with students to create personal learning plans and following up on goals identified within those plans.
- Support and/or supervise afterschool activities as needed
- Handle the LPP student database which includes maintaining the structure of the database and related functions and ensuring successful and seamless integration, communication, and feeds between database and student files.
- Perform data entry which requires manual entry and bulk uploads of data, such as student demographics, email, and parent information.
- Provide basic program information to parents, students and community partners as needed
- Participate in staff meetings and training or professional development
Travel
Travel to partners schools required.
Skills/Requirements
- Bs or higher in related field; bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 1-3 years working with high school youth in an academic setting or program.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities at the same time.
- Ability to adapt and work in fast paced environment.
- Knowledge of MS office including Access.
Hours
Mon-Fri 8
30 am – 4:30 pm; some Saturdays and evenings required.
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the hourly salary for this position is $32.00.
