POSITION: Part-Time English as a Second Language (ESOL) Tutor (Special Programs Coordinator): Cener for Adult Education; Lawrence Campus (45 Franklin Street); MCCC/MTA Unit Professional Position; up to 12 hours/week, 10-month academic year only (8 weeks off for summer). SUMMARY: Northern Essex Community College seeks a part-time English as a Second Language (ESOL) Tutor to support students enrolled in non-credit ESOL courses on our Lawrence campus. The successful candidate will provide academic tutoring and learning support to ESOL students to promote language development and academic success. SCHEDULE: Monday through Thursday, 5:00pm - 8:00pm; 10-month academic year only This position is scheduled for up to 12 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters, with a reduced schedule during the winter intersession and summer semesters, for a total of ten months per year.
Duties for this position include: Provide individual and small group instruction in English grammar, reading, writing, listening, speaking, pronunciation, and cultural context to adult English language learners. Support students to develop and meet academic goals. Record and report student progress. Collaborate with and support ESOL instructors and CAE staff to promote ESOL tutoring Maintain contact with the Assistant Director of Adult Education Keep informed about issues and developments within the Tutoring Center.
