Job description
- English/Humanities Teacher (primarily 9th/10th grades) – 1.0, Twin Cities High School Collaborate with humanities teachers (English, History, and Religion) to plan appropriate push-in intervention support within the regular classroom setting.
- Support the classroom teachers with data collection to measure the effectiveness of the interventions.
- During daily “Office Hours” block, plan and provide small-group or individualized intervention.
- Meet with the Intervention Team weekly to analyze student data and plan next steps for intervention.
- Attend appropriate grade-team and department team meetings.
- Must have a desire for continuous learning about MTSS, best practice in intervention, and the Science of Reading.
- The goal is to assist struggling students in their first two years of high school.
- Diverse student population at this private Minneapolis High School (not a charter school).
Details
English proficiency required and at least 2 years of English teaching experience in a classroom preferred. Teaching license not required. Ability to work with humanities teachers and build customized learning plans for students, in both classroom and individual settings. Tutor students in small groups and/or individually to improve students’ reading, writing, and executive functioning skills and bring them closer to expected grade level. Participate in all professional development and all-school activities as part of the teaching community. Attention to detail and reporting; daily hours reporting + monthly progress reports for student and parent. Increase parental involvement in student success. Spanish speaking desired but not required. This is a Title funded position and works in concert with the school to use assessment data and classroom observations to identify students needing additional support to achieve grade level.
