  • Job Summary: The Department of Sociology and Social Work is seeking candidates for an adjunct teaching position in the Master of Social Work program to teach one or more courses in the area of sociology or social work.

Salary

PLNU adjunct pay: Using a 3-unit full semester appointment as a pay guide, the adjunct pay range is $5,013 - $6,684. The units will determine the actual salary.

Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES Provide instruction in the area of the graduate MSW program including some general education and service courses. Adjuncts must have knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques appropriate to teaching graduate level, including ways to instruct, manage, motivate and evaluate students as well as the ability to write syllabi and deliver illustrated lectures. Successful candidate will work strategically with diverse colleagues, students, parents and community members. Engage in personal scholarship and scholarship with students (where possible) Advise students academically, spiritually, and socially Participate in departmental activities and governance Serve on university faculty committees/working groups and perform other normal faculty duties (when requested) Contribute in preparing students for their career and finding who they are called to be QUALIFICATIONS Education: MSW or PhD in Sociology/Social Work Experience: Evidence of a commitment to excellence in (undergraduate/graduate) teaching. Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching students from diverse backgrounds is preferred.
