  • Range: $67,567.00 - $158,280.00 Salary/yearThe High School Spanish Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging, standards-aligned instruction that develops students’ proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in Spanish while aligning instruction to NYS Learning Standards for World Languages and ACTFL proficiency guidelines Essential Responsibilities Design and implement standards-based Spanish instruction aligned to NYS Learning Standards for World Languages and ACTFL proficiency guidelines. Conduct instruction primarily in Spanish to maximize language acquisition opportunities. Develop lessons that promote interpretive, interpersonal, and presentational communication skills. Integrate authentic Spanish-language materials, educational technology, multimedia resources, and real-world applications into instruction. Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners, including multilingual learners and students with disabilities. Develop and administer formative and summative assessments aligned to proficiency targets and instructional standards. Analyze student assessment data to inform instruction and provide targeted support and interventions. Support students in preparing for advanced language coursework and, when applicable, the Seal of Biliteracy. Exhibit an understanding of and skills relevant to the subject area taught. Develop lesson plans that are clear, logical, sequential, and aligned to curriculum goals. Use a variety of instructional strategies, including cooperative learning, modeling, questioning, and project-based learning. Monitor student understanding and adjust instruction as needed. Provide meaningful feedback to students and maintain accurate records of student progress. Establish and maintain a safe, respectful, inclusive, and culturally responsive classroom environment. Communicate regularly with students, families, colleagues, and administrators regarding student progress and classroom expectations. Support school-wide initiatives, extracurricular activities, and community events as needed. Knowledge and skills Knowledge of NYSED Learning Standards for World Languages and ACTFL proficiency standards. Fluency in Spanish and English with strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong understanding of second-language acquisition strategies and best instructional practices. Ability to deliver proficiency-based Spanish instruction. Able to work independently and in a self-reliant manner. Ability to turn best practices into high-quality, goal-driven results. Displays effective time management and organizational skills. Experience with educational technology, data management tools, and Microsoft Office Suite. Possesses strong written, oral, and interpersonal skills to communicate with a varied audience. Strong classroom management, collaboration, and interpersonal skills. Ability to analyze student performance data and adjust instruction accordingly. Ability to organize tasks, set priorities, meet deadlines, and manage multiple responsibilities. QualificationsRequired Education and Experience Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish, Education, or related field. NYS Certification in Spanish or World Languages, or certification in process. Minimum of two years of related teaching experience preferred. Preferred Education and Experience Master’s Degree in Secondary Education, World Language Instruction, or related field. Experience with proficiency-based language instruction preferred.
