Job description

MHA promotes mental health and total wellness for individuals facing challenges associated with mental illness and addiction recovery. We increase community awareness while enhancing mental well-being through advocacy, education, prevention, treatment, and services.

MHA is seeking a Part-time School Based Mental Health Clinician to join our team! Be a part of the team that makes a difference in the lives of our consumers.

This is a Part-time position, 20 hours per week, flexible.

Qualifications

Must possess a Master’s degree in Social Work or Counseling along with an LSW or LAC; LCSW or LPC preferred. Candidate must also have at least 2 years of post-graduate relevant clinical experience working with children providing social work and/or counseling services, mental health/behavioral risk assessments, crisis intervention, case formulation, case planning and/or discharge planning/case disposition.

Responsibilities

Responsible for following up on school referrals of students for mental health counseling and support. Implement psychosocial and behavioral assessments with students. With younger, pre-school students, involve the parents and guardians in the assessment process. Provide individual and/or group counseling and support to students along with supportive consultations to their families. When appropriate for the child and the setting, provide in-class support. Perform crisis assessment and crisis intervention with children as needed. Establish collaborative relationships with key school personnel and faculty to ensure clear communications and project expectations. Provide consultation and education to school administrators and faculty on current behavioral strategies regarding issues surrounding mental health and childhood and adolescent development. Assist students, families and faculty in understanding and navigating through the mental health and social services system. Liaison, advocate and collaborate with other treatment providers on behalf of youth and families. Complete professional, clinical documentation and charting as required of oversight organizations and funding sources. In collaboration with the school, agency and funding source, develop and implement program age appropriate evaluation tools to determine outcome measures and overall effectiveness of interventions.
