About JVS JVS of MetroWest is a nonprofit, community-based health and human service organization, delivering a wide array of personalized services on a nonsectarian basis to nearly 2,000 individuals each year. The people we help range in age range from 14 to 100+. We provide services to individuals throughout New Jersey and business-to-business services to hundreds of companies across the State.
The Role JVS is seeking a Pharmacy Technician Instructor in our East Orange location. Under the direct supervision of the Director of Workforce Development, this position is responsible for providing instruction to learners to help prepare for employment as a certified pharmacy technician.
- Essential Functions Instruct trainees from the approved curriculum and teach class according to approved course syllabus.
- Provide technically relevant instruction in classroom and/or laboratory setting according to established program objectives.
- Educate trainees on the concepts of retail pharmacy practice.
- Prepare trainees to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board’s PTCB examination.
- Collaborate with Workforce Development team to include career preparation and development.
- Educate trainees on the concepts of retail pharmacy practice.
- Teach trainees on how to perform functions related to medication ordering, receiving, storage, preparation, delivery, and disposal.
- Maintain a daily record of attendance and grades in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Responsible for assessment, feedback, and program evaluation.
- Make suggestions for improvement to ensure students satisfy course standards, training requirements and objectives.
- Motivate trainees to actively participate in all aspects of the educational process.
- Provide instruction in classroom and/or laboratory setting according to established program objectives.
- Qualifications & Experience Must have a B.A.
- Bi-lingual a plus (Spanish or Haitian Creole) Minimum of two (2) years of Pharmacy Technician (PT) experience and adult education Current PTCB Certification/ NJ Pharmacy Technician License required Diploma or Certificate in the Pharmacy Tech field from an accredited school Must have a minimum of one (2) years of teaching experience in the subject areas taught or demonstrate prior training in instructional methodology and teaching skills from a formal teacher educational program or any comparable training program or formal in-house training program Proficient skills and experience in Microsoft Office computer software systems that includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Zoom and Google Classroom The desire to help others succeed in their career goals JVS provides an equal opportunity workplace.
