Job description
- Smithfield, Virginia Overview Performs functions regarding athletic injuries, prevention, assessment, treatment and reconditioning.
- Responsible for educating the public on injury prevention, rehabilitation, wellness and other health-related issues.
- Location of work might include any combination of outpatient clinic; recreational facility, school, or university treatment headquarters; or at practice or game sites.
- What you will do Builds trusting collaborative relationships with a multi-disciplinary team to support patient care needs.
- Collaborates appropriately with other disciplines to develop, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
- Participates in care team meeting.
- Participates positively in the training and support of all team members, volunteers and students as needed.
- Proactively participates in and provides feedback to team members/learners.
- Demonstrates the ability to perform the following functions regarding athletic injuries: prevention, assessment, treatment, and reconditioning as set forth by the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA) and Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer (BOC).
- Demonstrates consistent fiscal accountability by providing recommendations and participating in supply utilization changes that support cost containment.
- Participates and provides feedback in new equipment/product evaluations; identifies and recommends solutions for cost savings and waste reduction.
- Promotes a healthy community through participation in educational offerings, pre-season physicals, screenings, health fairs, and other health promotion opportunities.
- Demonstrates the ability to design and implement prevention programs and the ability to provide appropriate injury recognition, evaluation, and immediate care.
- Effectively participates in rehabilitation and reconditioning of injuries and completes appropriate documentation and follow-up communication in a timely manner.
- Works closely with other members of sports medicine team to determine opportunities for increasing referrals within RHS, capturing additional customers, and growing the sports medicine program.
