Position profile
The interventionist supports students in grades 6-12 who need additional academic assistance in core subject areas. This role focuses on identifying learning gaps, providing targeted instruction, monitoring student progress, and collaborating with teachers to improve student outcomes. The Interventionist works closely with general education staff, Social Worker, and administrators to ensure all students receive appropriate support to succeed academically.
- General responsibilities
- Provide small-group and one-on-one instruction in areas such as reading, writing, and/or mathematics.
- Assess student performance and identify skill gaps using formal and informal data.
- Develop and implement targeted intervention plans aligned with curriculum standards.
- Monitor and track student progress; adjust interventions based on data.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to align intervention strategies with classroom instruction.
- Support students with organization, study skills, and academic habits.
- Participate in Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) processes.
- Communicate regularly with teachers, counselors, and parents regarding student progress.
- Assist in preparing students for standardized assessments.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field
- Valid Michigan teaching certification (appropriate for middle/high school levels).
- Experience working with students in an educational setting.
