Job description

Bellarmine College Preparatory, a Jesuit secondary school, has been educating young “men for and with others” in the Jesuit tradition of St. Ignatius Loyola, founder of the Society of Jesus, since 1851.

Bellarmine College Preparatory, located in San José, California invites applications for a full-time Assistant Athletic Trainer II. The Assistant Athletic Trainer II will report to the Director of Sports Medicine. Working at Bellarmine College Preparatory requires a commitment to the mission and values of the school.

The Assistant Athletic Trainer II provides entry to intermediate‑level athletic training services in support of assigned athletic programs. This position functions under established supervision and departmental protocols while developing clinical competence and professional experience.

  • Essential Responsibilities
  • Provide athletic training coverage for assigned practices and competitions
  • Assist with injury evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and documentation
  • Monitor student-athletes during recovery and return-to-play progression
  • Maintain a safe and organized athletic training environment
  • Communicate injury status to Director of Sports Medicine and relevant stakeholders
  • Participate in weekly department meetings to review sport status, injury status, and general information.
  • Communicate relevant student health information to the school nurse
  • Attend Athletic Department and School professional development sessions
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Sports Medicine

Minimum Qualifications/Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in athletic training or related field
  • BOC certified Athletic Trainer
  • Current CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Maintenance of a valid California driver’s license and acceptable driving record, in order to drive to and from off-site meetings, activities, and events; or the ability to use other means of transportation to attend such meetings, activities, and events
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to express oneself clearly and concisely, and successfully interact with external and internal constituents
  • Work effectively with staff and students at all levels, displaying a positive attitude, demonstrating presence and self-confidence, and exhibiting motivation and drive
  • Working knowledge with Microsoft Office applications, and the ability to operate all other applicable software
  • Prioritize and complete tasks/assignments/projects/ within established time frames and with strong attention to detail, including the ability to stay focused and manage multiple projects/activities simultaneously

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift 25 pounds, using proper lifting techniques
  • Ability to sit, stand, and/or move around the applicable working environment as needed
  • Ability to travel around our campus safely and comfortably
  • Ability to use a keyboard (or an alternative input device) and other office equipment
  • Ability to read information in printed material, on a computer screen, (often for extended periods of time) and/or on a mobile device/laptop

General Information

  • Compensation: $65,000 - $75,000; DOE
  • This position is classified as a Full-Time, Exempt position; employees in exempt positions are expected to work as many hours as their job responsibilities require, which could include evenings and weekends
  • The position is a 12-month position
  • This position has no direct reports
  • This is not a telecommuting position
