About the role

The coach is responsible for supervising campers, leading sport-specific drills and games, and ensuring a safe, high-energy environment. They support the daily camp schedule and foster positive social interaction and skill development among children.

Position Overview The Sports Baseball Camp Coach plays an essential role in creating a safe, fun, and high-energy environment for campers participating in our sports camp program.

Working under the supervision of the Camp Director, Sports Camp Coaches actively supervise campers, lead sport-specific drills and games, assist with skill development, and support the daily schedule of camp activities.

This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with children, have a strong background in sports, and bring positive energy, enthusiasm, and leadership to the camp setting.

Counselors are responsible for helping campers stay engaged, learn new skills, and participate in activities in a safe and encouraging environment.

Sports Camp Counselors help ensure that each camper feels included, supported, and excited to be at camp, while also helping maintain organization, safety, and smooth day-to-day operations throughout the camp program.

Key Responsibilities Provide attentive supervision of campers throughout the day to ensure safety and positive participation.

Lead and assist with games and drills.

Encourage teamwork, inclusion, and positive social interaction among campers.

Support campers’ social and emotional needs and help resolve minor conflicts using positive behavior guidance.

Escort campers to activities, restrooms, and other areas of campus as needed Supervise campers during rest periods, transitions, and group activities.

Program Support Assist with implementing daily camp schedules, activities, and weekly themes. Have experience with sports and coaching, but also specific knowledge of either basketball, volleyball, baseball, and/or softball Help prepare materials and activity spaces before sessions begin. Support smooth transitions between activities and locations across campus. Participate actively in camp programming with enthusiasm and creativity.

Staff Collaboration Work closely with the Camp Director to support daily operations. Communicate effectively with fellow counselors and staff regarding camper needs and schedule adjustments. Maintain consistent expectations for camper behavior and participation. Participate in staff meetings and required training sessions.

Safety & Professional Expectations Maintain continuous awareness of camper safety and supervision requirements.

Follow all camp policies, procedures, and safety protocols.

Serve as a positive role model through professional behavior, communication, and leadership.

Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment for campers.

Demonstrate reliability, flexibility, and a strong commitment to the wellbeing of children.

Communicate respectfully and professionally with parents by providing brief updates when appropriate, answering questions, and directing any concerns or important information to the Camp Director to ensure consistent and clear communication.

Important Skills Working with children requires extensive physical activity, mental alertness, patience, and enthusiasm. Camp Counselors should demonstrate: Strong communication and interpersonal skills High energy and enthusiasm when working with children Good judgment and problem-solving abilities Emotional maturity and reliability Ability to work both independently and as part of a team Flexibility in a fast-paced, active environment Good general health, physical stamina, and emotional stability are essential

Qualifications

Prior experience working with children in a camp, school, or youth program setting preferred High School Diploma or equivalent required Strong organizational and communication skills CPR and First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain prior to camp) Ability to learn camp management software, CampMinder

Physical Requirements Regularly required to stand, walk, and actively participate in physical activities Ability to supervise children in both indoor and outdoor environments Occasionally required to lift or move equipment and materials (up to 30 lbs) Ability to move across various campus environments, including uneven terrain

Dates & Compensation Camp dates will be Monday-Friday from 8: 30am-3:30pm in July and August 1-2 Days of Training in July-August $25/hour

Requirements

Candidates must have a high school diploma and experience working with children in a camp or school setting. CPR and First Aid certifications are preferred, along with the physical stamina to lead active outdoor activities.
