Qualifications

EDUCATION Bachelor's Degree in Human Services, Special Education or related discipline, OR, equivalent combination of education and experience. Required EXPERIENCE Two (2) years' experience working with individuals with disabilities. Required Two (2) years' of service provision experience preferably in an educational setting. Required Two (2) years' experience working with students with disabilities in higher education. Preferred ABILITIES AND SKILLS Ability to communicate effectively both in-person and in written form. Required Ability to independently handle multiple tasks simultaneously, manage time, and prioritize tasks. Required Functional ability with or aptitude to learn microcomputer functions with mainframe application and requisite software packages utilized in the office. Required Ability to resolve routine problems with accuracy and composure. Required Strong organizational skills and the ability to deal with functions requiring attention to detail. Required Knowledge of physical, psychological, neurological and learning disabilities. Required Demonstrated knowledge of Section 504, ADA, ADAAA. Required Knowledge of local human service resources. Preferred Knowledge of Penn College enrollment procedures. Preferred Knowledge of functional limitations of various disabilities and the reasonable and appropriate technological accommodations that will help mitigate the limiting effects of disabilities in the academic arena. Preferred Knowledge of production of Braille documents and accessible digital content. Preferred Knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL). Preferred Working knowledge of assistive technology and adaptive equipment for students with disabilities. Responsibilities

Provide special placement testing for College applicants with disabilities and/or testing for students with disabilities. Read documentation, identify and provide appropriate accommodations, testing, and services to enrolled and prospective students with disabilities. Assist with accommodation review appointments with students to review procedures for accessing services and authorizing release of information. Provide ongoing support services (i.e. academic, disability related; referrals) for students with disabilities throughout the academic year. Maintain program records, correspondence and other data including scanning documents. Respond to correspondence from prospective and current students, parent/guardians, staff, agencies, and school personnel concerning programs and services. Stay abreast of current ADA law, section 504, and developments in the field of disability services. Maintain accurate, comprehensive, and up to date notes/records related to students. Provide assistance with processing equipment loans. Assist in obtaining, processing and providing books in alternate format to students. Assist in implementing new programs and activities to serve special populations. Assist with training students on Assistive Technology, and the Accommodate System. Attend staff meetings, division meetings, and participate in campus committees as appropriate. Facilitate meetings for prospective students and families to discuss placement testing, documentation, etc. and answer questions about disability and access resources. Provide front desk coverage when needed. Attend regional high school transition clinic meetings for potential incoming students with disabilities. Oversee Disability and Access Resources’ Allies program and facilitate opportunities for engagement into the campus community. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES Assist in transporting adaptive equipment to classrooms/labs. Assist the Director in providing training for College faculty and staff on disability issues. Physical Standards and Special Job Features Some lifting/pushing/pulling of assistive technology/adaptive equipment not to exceed 50 lbs.
