Description of the Position: (Purpose of the Position):

The Basketball Camp Counselor supports all aspects of camp life including camper experience and programming with camp director and coaches for the duration of camp.

Transferable Skills: Leadership, time-management, coaching, communication

Duties: and Responsibilities:

1. Ensure campers are accounted for during all camp programming.

2. Provide supervision of campers at assigned activities, both instructional and recreational,

for the duration of the camp session.

3. Be responsive and reachable throughout the duration of camp.

4. Apply basic youth development principles in working with students through

communication, relationship development, respect, and involvement.

5. Be aware of and implement all safety guidelines. Follow and uphold all security rules and

procedures. Maintain high standards of health and safety in all activities for campers.

6. Interact with people from a diversity of backgrounds and experience.

Qualifications: (Education/Experience/Skills)

Applicants should have a background working with children and knowledge of competitive basketball and working with youth.

Physical and Environmental Factors

This position requires crouching, stooping, twisting/pivoting, climbing/balancing, reaching overhead, grasping/handling, pushing/pulling, lifting and carrying objects up to 20 lbs., and repetitive motions to perform the essential functions. It also requires exposure to loud noise and proximity hazards to perform the essential functions. Candidates must possess the ability to safely perform the physical work required of all duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
