Conducts practices and guides skill mastery and communication with swimmers. Ensure that Y values are incorporated into programming.
Conducts energizing, fun, safe, and educational practices. Ensures fair practice and meet experiences.
Stays up to date on competitive swimming best practices and trends.
Assist with the collection and organization of performance data.
Builds effective, authentic relationships with members; helps them connect with each other and the YMCA.
Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and procedures.
Able to commit to a set practice schedule and attend practices assigned.
Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
Fosters an inclusive environment appreciative of differences in the workplace. Meaningfully participate in and lead efforts to support the Y’s commitment to equity and diversity.
This position will not have any supervisory roles.
This position operates in and around a pool area. Sometimes the floor will be slippery, or the working environment will seem humid. Noise level has the capability of being loud at times.
The Swim Team Coach is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus to remain alert.
Travel is not required for this position.
This is a part time position. The pool is open seven days a week and hours will depend on the requirements of the aquatics department.
Required Qualifications/Experience
Certified in Professional Rescuer CPR/AED OR Basic Life Support and First Aid.
All required training/certifications as outlined by Y-USA to maintain annual coaches' registrations within 90 days of hire.
Ability to maintain certification-level of physical and mental readiness.
Experience working with youth and competitive teams .
