Responsibilities
About Philadelphia Social Service Ministries: Philadelphia Social Service Ministries (PSSM) is the collection of social services programs that the Salvation Army provides in Philadelphia. These programs include family emergency housing, anti-trafficking, and permanent housing for seniors and chronically homeless adults. Description of Position: The Day Camp Counselor’s role is to provide a safe, fun, and caring environment for children enrolled in the Summer Day Camp program. Counselors are responsible for leading the group of children in assigned activities and implementing procedures. The Day Camp Counselor supports the Learning Zone & Day Camp Coordinator, the Music & Arts Specialist, and the Recreation Specialist in creating and developing weekly programming for the youth participants. The Day Camp Counselor serves as a chaperone during off site field trips. The above list of job duties is not exclusive or exhaustive, and the candidate will be required to undertake such tasks as reasonably expected within the post’s scope.

Requirements
At least 18 years of age and experience working with children. Be reliable and dependable. Work schedule to meet program staffing/planning needs Pennsylvania's Child Protective Services Law requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and PA DHS Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check. In addition, completion of a Pennsylvania approved Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting Training is necessary prior to employment. Must understand and support for the Mission of The Salvation Army.
