Job description

Overview Assisting After-School children with various social and inter-personal skills.

Responsibilities

Assist other staff members in the pick-up of children from the local public schools and accompanying them back to the Center Review children’s homework assignments and assist them in completing them correctly Keep accurate records of children’s assignments and progress Inform Director of any concerns (social, academic, etc.) of the students Provide tutoring to students when necessary Assist and/or organize games, crafts, and other recreational activities Supervise children to and from park, playground, field trips, etc. Keep accurate records/tracking slips, attendance, lunch counts, etc. Maintain proper staff to student ratio at all times All other duties as directed by Corps Officer and/or Director

Qualifications

At least a Junior or Senior in High School with an outstanding academic report Maintain an “A” or “B” average in his/her own academic reports Be able to walk to and from schools (in assisting with school pick-ups) Be able to work outdoors for recreational activities Be flexible to assist the Director and/or other staff in any necessary tasks Must understand and appreciate the mission of The Salvation Army.
