Position Summary

Under the direction of the Program/Sports Director, the Sports Instructor teaches all assigned Sports classes within the guidelines of the Association to maintain the quality of programs. Responsible for creating learning opportunities for specific sports programs for ages preschool through adult. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Sports Instructor – Must obtain CPR/FA within 90 days of hire. Must be able to demonstrate and explain basic sports skills that are being taught. Must be able to work at the learning level of particular class. Prepares teaching area with necessary equipment and the returns equipment to proper storage area when class is complete. Works with individuals and groups within a class structure to enable all to correct faults, improve self-image, and progress their abilities. Keeps class attendance records. Follows designated curriculum for classes to ensure basic components are met and set standards for progression are followed. Qualifications

EDUCATION ● High School Diploma preferred, but not required EXPERIENCE ● Current CPR/AED/O2/First Aid certification (or O2 within 30 days of hire) ● Completion of new associate training (including Child Abuse Prevention) before scheduled to work ● Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community ● Ability to be effective communicator especially with children SKILLS ● Proficient computer skills ● Customer service skills WORKING CONDITIONS: ● Stand in one area for extended periods of time. ● Stand and walk for extended periods of time. ● Ascend and descend steps. ● Occasional outdoor activities. ● Lift and move up to 50lbs. ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS, PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: ● Physically able to successfully complete required job functions, including use of hands, arms, fingers, able to talk and hear, use a computer, sit and stand, regularly move/lift up to 50 pounds, enter all Y environments (office spaces, indoor and outdoor maintenance/mechanical areas, fitness areas, pool and pool space, camping areas, unimproved outdoor locations and other program areas).

Accountable for completion of assigned goals as measured by the number of people served, cause driven measures, service satisfaction scores, operating results, and supervisor evaluation of assigned duties.
