  • Schedule: Full-Time | 40 hours/week | Variable hours including evenings, weekends, and team travel Vanderbilt University is seeking a driven, dynamic Certified Athletic Trainer – Basketball to join our Sports Medicine team supporting NCAA Division I SEC student-athletes. In this role, you will deliver comprehensive athletic training services, injury management, and performance support for elite collegiate basketball athletes competing at one of the highest levels of college athletics. Working with guidance from the Director of Sports Medicine, you will collaborate with team physicians, Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) specialists, and an integrated sports medicine and performance team to deliver evidence-based care, enhance athlete availability, and promote overall health and well-being. This position also serves as a key liaison between Vanderbilt University and Vanderbilt University Medical Center, providing on-court coverage, injury evaluation, care coordination, and high-impact sports medicine services. This role is ideal for athletic trainers who thrive in a fast-paced, competitive NCAA Division I environment and are passionate about contributing to the success of an SEC Basketball program. Key Responsibilities Serve as the Athletic Trainer for Vanderbilt Basketball, providing hands-on coverage for practices, strength and conditioning sessions, competitions, and team travel. Deliver comprehensive athletic training and sports medicine services to NCAA Division I Basketball student-athletes. Collaborate with sports medicine leadership to develop and implement individualized plans of care. Coordinate care with team physicians, strength and conditioning staff, and performance specialists to optimize athlete health, availability, and reduce injury risk. Perform advanced clinical evaluations and analyze functional data to determine readiness, safe participation, and return-to-play timelines. Implement evidence-based interventions to support performance optimization and long-term athlete development. Promote athlete health, safety, and wellness in alignment with SEC, NCAA, and Vanderbilt Athletics standards. Support administrative and operational functions of the Sports Medicine program. Operate motor vehicles to provide on-site coverage at practices, competitions, and team events across multiple locations. Perform other duties as assigned to support Vanderbilt Sports Medicine initiatives.
