The Role
How You’ll Make an Impact As a Community Employment Specialist, you aren’t just a job coach—you are a bridge builder, an advocate, and a champion for independence. You will work directly in the community to help individuals with developmental disabilities find, secure, and thrive in meaningful employment and volunteer roles.
Key Responsibilities
- Coach &
- Mentor: Provide hands-on training, guidance, and encouragement to individuals at their job or volunteer sites, helping them master tasks and build confidence.
- Teach
- Life
- Skills: Help individuals develop vital communication and independent living skills that set them up for long-term success.
- Build
- Partnerships: Foster positive relationships with local employers and volunteer organizations to ensure a supportive environment for the individuals we serve.
- Provide a
- Lift: Safely transport individuals to and from their community employment and volunteer sites.
- Advocate &
- Document: Keep accurate, confidential records of progress and milestones, ensuring we are constantly centering the needs, desires, and rights of those we support. What You Bring to the Team

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of one year experience working with people with intellectual disabilities.
- Work requires frequent physical activity including extended periods of standing, walking, and bending with occasional periods of sitting, kneeling, climbing, stooping, crouching, squatting and balancing.
- Work also requires constant reaching between knee and shoulder level as well as frequent reaching below knee level and overhead.
- Work requires occasional independent lifting up to 25 pounds, frequent push/pull up to 40 pounds of force and the ability to safely transfer 50 pounds.
