Internship experience

  • Interns will actively participate in a dynamic learning environment that includes observation, supervised client interactions, and case management support. You’ll gain exposure to the full scope of services provided to children and families, including:
  • Observing and assisting with client assessments in real-life settings
  • Identifying client strengths, needs, and goals
  • Supporting the development and implementation of case plans
  • Participating in case staffing and treatment planning
  • Coordinating services with community partners
  • Learning professional documentation and report preparation

Overview of responsibilities

Children, Youth, and Family Services Interns may

  • Assist with home visits, court appearances, and family meetings
  • Document contacts with parents, collaterals, and professionals
  • Participate in team meetings, consultations, and group supervision
  • Review case files, reports, and supporting documentation
  • Transport youth and parents to appointments
  • Assist with child abuse and neglect assessments
  • Connect families with valuable community resources

Minimum Qualifications

  • Enrolled and in good standing at an accredited university in a bachelor’s degree program (no clinical practice included).
  • At least 21 years of age
  • Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record
  • Physical exam including TB screening
  • Required criminal clearances (State Police, FBI, and State Child Abuse)
  • Successful completion of background and reference checks
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Availability primarily Monday–Friday, with occasional evenings or weekends
