Position Summary
The Assistant to Student & Community Life is responsible for ensuring the well-being and safety of Secondary students while upholding community rules and agreements throughout the portion of the school day they oversee.
They support students in being their best selves, uphold rules and regulations, support student respect and responsibility, and oversee daily activities, attendance, social interactions, and student spaces during their free time and recess.
They collaborate with various staff members and students to provide necessary support.
They support an inclusive school by helping the Secondary Student & Community Life department with additional duties such as maintaining a clean environment and helping with duties such as decorating, set up and strike for special daytime events, and oversee student recess and special activities. The Assistant should possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, be a team player, be able to work well under pressure, and believe in the school's mission and multicultural environment.

Essential
Duties and Responsibilities
General Guidelines: The Assistant to Student & Community Life’s responsibilities include the following, but are not limited to:
- Student safety
- Active supervision of the floor, entrance and exit during student lunch period, between class periods and at the end of the day, on a rotation to be determined by the department.
- Supervising the effective use of the Yondr system.
- Supervising student exams and individual work.
- Supervising student activities as determined by the Dean of Students.
- Supervise the students during their snacks and lunch periods: cafeteria, lobby, mezzanine, gym, drive-thru or other areas of the school.
- In case of no backup for a teacher’s/ advisor's absence, backup supervision for a class.

- Maintain respectful communication
- Participate in decorating and maintaining the space in collaboration with the department
- Oversee student stewardship of the space
- Encourage active participation on the part of the students
- Support the occasional student service project
- Oversee an occasional Tier- 1 disciplinary intervention
- Immediately communicate Tier-2 disciplinary situations to the Grade Coordinator
- Other duties as required
