Make a Difference The Consultation Nurse responds to situations in the hospital where a patient is showing signs of clinical deterioration. This position will be responsible for monitoring, evaluating and rounding on all patients within the hospital. This position serves as an educational mentor and teaching resource for inexperienced nurses who are learning new procedures or have questions/concerns about a patient's assessment. To maintain critical care nursing skills, the Consultation Nurse will work PRN in the ICU (approximately two shifts per six-week schedule). Exceptional Skills and Qualifications Demonstration of performance consistent with professional standards of practice, care, the Nurse Practice Act and the mission and goals of Community Health Network; demonstration of skills in collaboration, delegation, negotiation and management of resources.
  • Graduate of National League for Nursing (NLN), Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), or National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA) accredited school of nursing, or three years of related professional nursing experience. Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred.
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid license to practice in the state of Indiana as listed in the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
  • Minimum of 1 year of critical care experience required (3+ years of critical care experience strongly preferred); 2+ years of precepting experience preferred.
  • ACLS, BLS, NIHSS certified.
  • Experience with CRRT, IABP, ICP management required.
  • CCRN certification or willing to obtain within 1 year of hire.
