How You Will Make an Impact The Career Technical Education (CTE) Business Teacher will design and deliver specialized instruction in business, marketing, entrepreneurship, finance, technology, and multimedia. The CTE Teacher will guide students in developing marketable technical, academic, and soft skills to prepare for education, industry certification, or the workforce. This role includes providing a personalized instructional program with learning activities and experiences aligned to core academic standards, supporting students' intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. The teacher will also help students meet diploma requirements and implement their post-secondary transition plan. This position reports to the Principal or their designee.

Provide one-on-one instruction and support aligned with the CTE curriculum. Assign appropriate coursework within the CTE program and refer students to core content teachers as needed. Demonstrate and oversee the safe use of lab technology and business tools. Monitor student progress, grade assignments, and communicate outcomes with students, parents, counselors, and administration. Collaborate with School Counselor to support post-secondary planning and coordinate business partnerships to ensure student experience, internships, and other post-secondary preparation. Collaborate with local industry to integrate real-world experiences and prepare students for business careers. Engage in professional development, team meetings, and school committees to stay current and improve programs Create and maintain a positive, respectful, and academically focused learning environment. Conduct effective student appointments to deliver instruction, guide goal setting, and monitor progress toward graduation. Establish and communicate clear learning objectives and content standards. Plan and deliver engaging instructional activities that support independent and personalized learning. Use diverse resources and strategies to meet varied student needs and promote critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and communication. Connect lessons to real-world experiences and post-secondary goals. Monitor understanding and adjust instruction; accordingly, provide feedback to enhance learning. Evaluate and grade student work, including assignments, projects, and tests. Support students in using online learning tools and resources effectively. Provide accommodations and interventions for English Learners, students with 504 Plans, and IEPs. Foster independent learning skills such as time management, goal setting, and resourcefulness. Integrate technology into instruction and stay current with industry standards to enhance student preparation . Administer diagnostic assessments in line with organizational guidelines. Maintain timely and accurate records of student progress, attendance, and communication. Refer students to support services such as tutoring, intervention programs, counseling, or labs as appropriate. Enforce school rules and manage classroom behavior professionally. Stay informed about current curriculum trends, teaching strategies, and educational resources. Collaborate with colleagues in professional learning communities and student support meetings. Participate in professional development and required school events, including graduation ceremonies. Report incidents (e.g., abuse, harassment, violence) in accordance with organizational policies. Perform administrative duties, responsibilities, and activities as assigned, which may be changed from time to time.

  • ABILITIES: Knowledge of South Carolina Teaching Standards and Career Technical Education. Knowledge of core academic subject (s) assigned. Knowledge of high school credits, graduation requirements, interventions, and alternative educational programs, including independent study. Knowledge and understanding of Independent Study, Personal Learning, and Distance Learning education models. Knowledge of research-based instructional strategies necessary for effective instruction of all student populations, including students at-risk of academic failure. Ability to work effectively with students from diverse racial, ethnic, linguistic, disability, and socioeconomic groups. Ability to work effectively with parents, staff members, and community representatives in providing a rigorous educational program. Ability to communicate effectively, including giving clear and concise instructions, using academic language, an appropriate delivery level, listening without bias, and providing proper feedback/reinforcement. Ability to make independent judgments, meet deadlines and maintain accurate student records.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, finance, or a related field from an accredited college or university. Valid South Carolina Standard Teaching Certification in Business/Marketing/Technology CTE or, CTE work-based certification program or, Enrolled in a State approved educator preparation program with student teaching or, Eligible to apply for a South Carolina Career Technical Education Certificate. Experience in a related business field. Proficient level of skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other technology applications. Ability to travel in the performance of job duties are required. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Vision: Ability to read small print and view a computer screen for prolong periods, prepare, or inspect documents and operate office equipment.
