We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our growing team. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by supporting students with diverse learning needs in school-based settings across Maryland.

Position Overview

As a Special Education Teacher (SPED) with Strides Therapy & Educational Services, you will collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, school administrators, and families to support students with disabilities in achieving their academic, behavioral, social, and functional goals.

  • The ideal candidate is student-focused, collaborative, organized, and passionate about helping students reach their full potential within inclusive educational environments.
  • Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) aligned with student needs and Maryland educational standards
  • Provide specialized instruction in individual, small group, and classroom settings
  • Adapt curriculum, instructional materials, and teaching strategies to support diverse learners
  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation of services, goals, and accommodations
  • Collaborate with parents, teachers, therapists, and school staff to support student success
  • Participate in IEP meetings, evaluations, and multidisciplinary team discussions
  • Support positive behavior strategies and classroom management techniques
  • Maintain compliance with district, state, and federal special education requirements
  • Stay current with evidence-based practices and professional development in special education QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or a related field
  • Valid Maryland Special Education teaching certification
  • Experience working with students with diverse learning and behavioral needs preferred
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary educational team

Requirements

Requires a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or a related field and a valid Maryland Special Education teaching certification. Experience with diverse learning and behavioral needs is preferred.
