- Part Time Working Hours: Monday and Tuesday at 3:30 to 5:00pm Exact hours and days will depend on class enrollment.
- Schedule Must be available to commit for the full 2026-2027 school year Students are grouped according to their age/grade level band Sessions are one-hour long
Responsibilities
Lead afterschool chess class with groups of up to 14 students for Kindergarten - 8th Grade - students are grouped according to their age Actively engage and motivate students during chess lessons Effectively manage the classroom and address students’ behavior issues in a positive, professional manner Ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students Communicate effectively with afterschool management regarding student and program-related matters Maintain and promote student organization of chess materials and supplies Organize competitions for students to participate in the NYC area Proficiency in playing chess Experience working with children of all ages Ability to clearly communicate rules and expectations to children is essential Strong classroom management and communication skills The hourly rate for this position will be $50 per hour.
