Position Summary

The Activity Specialist is responsible for designing and facilitating high quality and engaging content-specific project-based learning experiences within a specific content area or specialization. The Activity Specialist will facilitate these learning experiences over the course of a semester, culminating in some type of interactive showcase by the participants. Activity Specialists will also attend all necessary meetings and trainings and work collaboratively with the program Director and site leadership team in order to ensure a successful program that meets the needs of our youth. Essential Functions Follow schedule provided by program administrators at all times. Develop and maintain positive and professional relationships and experiences with participants, school faculty & families. Work collaboratively with site leadership to plan, develop, and execute quality, project-based youth development activities. Actively engage all participants in specialty area activities, as outlined in plans. Prepare all related paperwork, materials and supplies for implementation. Provide support through the learning process, by encouraging and providing resources for participants. Coordinate events & functions in specialty area such as: showcases, exhibits, productions, culminating events, etc. Attend field trips and other work-related events as necessary. Maintain and submit all program and certification-related documents within the required timeframes specified. Report and document any misconduct, incident and/or facility issues to program administrators. Attend all meetings and professional development workshops as required; some weekends and evenings necessary. Provide supervision, leadership and guidance to participants and staff. Ensure safety of ALL participants at all times; and, follow program policies at all times. Other related duties as assigned by Site Director and leadership team. Hours Monday – Friday | 2:00pm – 6:00pm Some Saturdays may be required

Qualifications

Current college student or graduate 18 years old or older Minimum 2 years of experience working with children and/or youth in your specialization in a professional setting Strong ability to form and maintain positive, professional relationships with children, youth, families, and other stakeholders Motivated and passionate to work closely with children Strong supervision skills for elementary (or middle school or high school-aged youth) Works collaboratively with others Well organized with strict attention to detail The Child Center of NY is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
