Job description

JOB SUMMARY The Athletic Trainer provides athletic training services on an ongoing basis for local sports teams in the training room and on the field. They attend home games as assigned and agreed upon by the respective head coaches and direct manager. The Athletic Trainer serves as a liaison between the injured athlete, sports medicine physician, athletic director/head coach, support staff and a physical/occupational therapist. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from a Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) accredited college or university

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree from a Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) accredited college or university LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS OR CERTIFICATIONS Required:
  • Licensed Athletic Trainer in Texas
  • Basic Life Support Preferred:
  • Certified through Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer
  • Essential job functions
  • Performs assigned pre-season physicals/exams, attends sports games or matches, and related events as assigned.
  • Works with staff to develop and implement an outreach program.
  • Provides athletic training services at sponsored sporting and community events.
  • Provides athletic training services in the athletic training room of contracted local schools.
  • Provides education and training in the areas of sports related injuries and prevention.
  • Performs prescribed treatments and follows recommendations from team physician and therapists.
  • Maintains relevant charts and documentation as required.
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills which are required to work effectively and efficiently between the athlete, coach, other team personnel, team physician and therapists.
  • Demonstrates proper taping, strapping, bracing and fitting of athletic equipment.
  • Demonstrates the ability to recognize, to assess injuries, to provide immediate care, rehab and reconditioning of the injured athlete.
  • Communicates with team physician and therapists regarding athletes’ condition, treatments and protocols.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/EQUIPMENT Standard athletic training room and team sports arenas to include but not limited to football fields, soccer fields, basketball courts and baseball fields. Standard hospital, clinical, laboratory and/or office environments. Travel requirements may include attendance at home and away games, attendance at athletic training rooms of contracted local schools and other physical demands of job. May be exposed to such occupational hazards as communicable diseases, blood borne pathogens, ionizing & non-ionizing radiation, hazardous medications and disoriented or combative patients or others.

Work schedule

19.99 hours per week, no benefits.
