As a Campus Monitor, you will be responsible for observing the school campus, immediately reporting all suspicious or unsafe activities, and communicating the need for emergency protective actions to administrators and authorities. The campus monitor is also responsible for following all instructions provided by emergency responders and administrators in the event of a crisis.

  • What does a Campus Monitor do?
  • Supports security and safety measures to promote the overall safety of students and staff
  • Practice situational awareness to help detect and address potentially dangerous conditions, situations and individuals.
  • Immediately report suspicious persons, serious disturbances, hazardous conditions, unsafe conditions, and all serious security matters to immediate supervisor or program director.
  • Proactively communicate the need for emergency protective actions or requests for response by public safety personnel when visual, auditory, or smelling senses indicate that action must be taken to protect human life. Use appropriate forms of communication to inform of emergencies, including verbal warnings, portable radios, fire alarms, or other communications systems or devices.
  • Take prompt action, as appropriate, to protect human life in an emergency, including the initiation of the standard response protocol.
  • Practice positive cultural awareness and demonstrate respect for diversity among students, employees, public safety partners, visitors and the public.
  • Participate in on-going employee development activities and successfully enroll in and complete the required training prior to expiration.
  • Maintain and submit accurate records and documentation to appropriate sources in a timely fashion.
  • Maintain standards of confidentiality and ethical practices
  • What are the requirements?
  • High School Diploma or GED Required.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of successful work experience.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to accurately communicate facts and write reports, and communicate in an emergency as required for the position.
  • Valid FL driver’s license and successful Level II background check, physical and drug screen.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
  • Computer skills as required for the position.
  • Prior experience working with students or adolescents.
  • Prior experience in law enforcement, security, or military experience.
  • Bilingual skills.
