About the Role

As an Structured Literacy Tutor (Dyslexia Focus) at Tutor Me Education, you’ll provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP). We are currently hiring for multiple positions across all cities in the Los Angeles, including Pacific Grove, CA.

  • Candidate: Experience supporting autistic adult learners in one-on-one educational settings Strong understanding of anxiety-sensitive and neurodiversity-affirming teaching approaches Patient, calm, and engaging personality with excellent conversational and rapport-building skills Comfortable using highly visual, discussion-based, and interest-driven learning methods Able to support reading comprehension, foundational literacy, math concepts, science, and social studies in flexible ways Skilled at adapting instruction to non-traditional learning styles and strengths-based teaching Familiar with sensory-sensitive environments and emotional regulation support strategies Able to facilitate collaborative learning experiences that promote engagement and confidence Creative and flexible in incorporating personal interests into lessons and discussions Strong organizational skills and ability to maintain consistent, structured sessions without rigid instruction

  • Responsibilities: Provide individualized academic and cognitive enrichment support in ELA, math, science, and social studies Support reading comprehension, foundational literacy, math problem-solving, and concept understanding Facilitate engaging, conversation-based learning experiences tailored to the student’s interests and strengths Use visual supports, multimedia resources, and discussion-centered instruction to maintain engagement Incorporate topics such as Star Wars, wildlife, geography, airplanes, marine life, Hollywood, and history into sessions Support language and communication development through collaborative discussion and guided interaction Maintain a calm, structured, and anxiety-sensitive learning environment Adapt instruction flexibly based on emotional regulation, focus, and sensory needs Encourage active participation, curiosity, and independent thinking while reinforcing confidence and emotional well-being Create meaningful learning opportunities that promote cognitive stimulation and ongoing engagement rather than traditional academic performance Why Tutor Me Education?
