Job description
Assistant boys basketball coach – walsh jesuit high school
- Walsh Jesuit High School is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Assistant Varsity Boys Basketball Coach to support the Head Coach in all aspects of the program. The ideal candidate will bring a minimum of five years of high school and/or college-level coaching experience, along with a demonstrated ability to build meaningful relationships with young men while fostering their growth on the court. This role includes helping to build a positive, inclusive, and student-centered culture aligned with the mission of Walsh Jesuit while promoting teamwork, discipline, sportsmanship, and personal growth. The Assistant Coach reports to the Head Coach and Athletic Director. Responsibilities may include: Coaching & Instruction
- Assist with planning and conducting practices
- Teach and reinforce fundamentals, skills, and techniques
- Provide small group and individual instruction
- Support game strategy
- Work under the direction of the Head Coach
- Student-Athlete Development
- Build positive relationships with student-athletes
- Reinforce team expectations, culture, and sportsmanship
- Program Support
- Assist with tryouts and athlete evaluations
- Support eligibility tracking, equipment, and program logistics
- Contribute to off-season training
- Communication
- Communicate regularly with the Head Coach
- Provide feedback to athletes
- Maintain professional interactions with parents and staff
Preferred Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience coaching at the high school and/or college-level
- Ability to develop student-athletes both athletically and personally in a faith-based educational environment
- Excellent communication and planning skills
- Familiarity with OHSAA rules and regulations
