Responsible for monitoring the emotional well-being of participants and staff during regional conventions. This includes identifying participant needs, managing behavioral issues, and responding to crisis situations.

Regional

Convention: BBYO teens are invited to join other teens in their region for fun weekend conventions throughout the year that typically take place at a camp, hotel, or retreat center. Conventions are planned and led by teens in BBYO to serve different purposes. Some conventions address the major business for the year and are opportunities to elect officers to the regional board. In other instances, conventions bring members together for a fun and meaningful weekend of programming, activities, Shabbat moments, and hanging out with friends! Conventions are what members look forward to most during the school year. It’s where friendships are formed. BBYO REGIONAL CONVENTION WELLNESS SPECIALIST Position Description Responsible for monitoring the emotional well-being of all participants and staff.

General

Responsibility:

To identify and meet participant needs: Review each participant’s profile and help staff to plan for participants’ needs. Observe all participants and follow up on any potential issues. Assist with adjustment issues and separation anxiety. Provide support to staff as they deal with participant behavior such as aggression, homesickness, teasing, or bullying. Be alert to issues that may arise from pre-existing family situations such as recent death, divorce, or serious illness in the family. Consult with staff as they work with children with diagnosed disorders. Work closely with nurse (if hired) to monitor the overlap of the physical and emotional wellbeing of participants. Be available to all staff regarding any issue surrounding a participant. Meet with individual teens or groups when necessary. Work with appropriate staff to develop strategies for success for teens in need. Contact parents in partnership with full time staff to discuss participants when necessary. Be available to respond to crisis situations. Be available and present to teens and staff throughout the day. In matters of concern regarding teen behavior, inform the Senior Director of Wellness and Inclusion

Requirements

Carry state license in home state, Master’s level degree in social work, counseling, or similar. (LSW, LCSW, LISW, LPC, Ph.D, Psy D., LMFT) Must complete all necessary BBYO trainings prior to Convention. Must stay onsite with teens for duration of convention. Position is not an agent, partner, or employee of BBYO. Position is an independent contract role.
