Job summary
The Student Tutor is expected to tutor their peers' essays independently to suggest improvements.
Duties & Responsibilities
The Tutor will meet with a student independently.
The Tutor will understand the problem and/or assignment the student has brought to the session.
The Tutor will read the student essay and communicate with the student clearly about possible recommendations for improvement.
The Tutor will demonstrate to the student tangible ways of implementing the recommendations made to the student.
At the end of the session the Tutor will write a summary of the session and post it in COMPASS for both the student and instructor.
The Tutor will attend all training sessions that will be provided.
Required qualifications
The Tutor must be an enrolled student in the University for the specific semesters they are planning to be tutors.
The Tutor must maintain a GPA of 3.0 or above.
The Tutor must have completed the First Year Writing Courses in the University or equivalent courses if they tested out. They could also be part of the University Honors program.
Desired qualifications
Tutors should have an innate aptitude and love for reading and writing.
